It's proving popular, as over 200,000 young people each year are realising their potential.

Now you can fulfil your ambitions too, as almost any existing interest or leisure activity of yours could qualify!

This is your chance to try your hand at something new, or improve your existing skills.

What's more, as many employers regard the Duke of Edinburgh's award as an extra qualification, what you do could even benefit your career.

Whatever you're interested in, you'll be spoilt for choice, with five Sections and hundreds of activities on offer:

Service:
Be a local hero - help the community, the environment or even train to save a life...

Skills:
Do something different, whether you fancy yourself as a fine artist or a trapeze artist, we've something to suit you...

Physical Recreation:
Could you be the next Beckham? Or Anna Kournikova? Virtually any sport, dance or fitness activity can count...

Expedition or Exploration:
Go on an expedition and find yourself. Train, plan and complete an adventurous journey in the countryside on foot, horseback, boat or cycle...

Residential Project:
Power to the people - work as a team on a conservation, service or activity-based project for five days (this is for Gold Award Participants only)...

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Garforth Community College:
Numerous Garforth Community College students have successfully taken on the challenges of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme over recent years and have gone on to achieve many awards.

In fact, in the past, students who have successfully completed their Gold Award have even been invited to attend a Royal Presentation at St James's Palace or Buckingham Palace. To gain the Gold Award students must complete five areas of study: Skill, Service, Physical Recreation, Expedition and a Residential project.

The College operates the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for students of Year 9 and above.
